Advanced Nursing Practice (ANP) refers to an advanced, highly qualified form of nursing practice. ANP nurses work at Master’s level and undertake tasks that go beyond traditional nursing. They possess in-depth clinical skills, scientific expertise and, in many cases, extended decision-making powers.
The programme’s objectives include imparting skills to improve the quality of care, enhance patient safety, promote prevention and self-management, address gaps in care, and develop research skills. The areas of competence in detail are:

Upon completion of the Master’s programme in Advanced Nursing Practice at HSD Hochschule Döpfer, you will be qualified to work in patient care at the highest level. The programme is designed to provide you with the best possible education for cross-sector, interprofessional care, as well as to equip you with the key skills required for professional leadership, training and mentoring of staff.
Essentially, you will be qualified to work in all sectors of the healthcare system where complex care and support situations arise. These include:
- Acute and long-term care
- Outpatient and cross-sector care
- Medical practices and medical care centres (MVZ)
- Advice centres such as care support centres
- local and public health services
- Community health nursing
- Research and University of Applied Sciences
- Training, further education and professional development in the healthcare sector
With the MSc in Advanced Nursing Practice, you will be able to carry out and supervise the full range of nursing activities. These include numerous areas such as:
- Advanced nursing planning and practice
- Clinical decision-making
- Advisory and educating patients and their families in complex care situations
- Promoting health literacy and self-management
- Cross-sectoral coordination and case management of complex symptom and care situations
- Development and implementation of evidence-based care standards
- Further development of innovative nursing and care concepts
- Research and evidence-based practice
- Clinical leadership
- Training and mentoring of staff
During the three-year full-time course, you will learn the basic theories and models of human behaviour and experience. You will apply these in practice in various contexts. The psychology degree programme thus combines a sound theoretical education with a special application focus and a large number of practice-oriented seminars and exercises.

Admission is granted to those who have completed a Bachelor’s degree in nursing, for example:
- Nursing Science
- Nursing management
- Nursing Education
and a completed vocational qualification in generalist nursing, health and nursing care, paediatric nursing, geriatric care or a comparable three-year nursing vocational qualification in the healthcare sector.

Type of programme: Part-time, alongside work
Location and start dates: Regensburg, Potsdam – in each case in the summer semester (1 March) and winter semester (1 September – from the winter semester of 2027).

Organisation: Practical placements with your respective employer are complemented by virtual learning modules in line with the Master’s programme’s blended learning model.
