The Master’s programme in Education for the Healthcare Professions enables you, as a skilled professional in the health and social care sector, to lay the foundations for enhancing your knowledge and skills in the field of educating and providing education to patients, staff and students. The programme provides you with an in-depth understanding of educational theories and methods specifically tailored to the health and social care sectors.
You will learn how to develop and implement curricula, set learning objectives and apply assessment techniques to measure the effectiveness of education. Upon graduation, you will have a wide range of career opportunities in health education, whether as a teacher at schools or universities, as an educator in hospitals, clinics or other healthcare settings, or as a course leader in the private sector.
The Master's deggree programme in Pedagogy for Healthcare Professions (MA) prepares students for advisory and support roles in continuing professional development.
The programme also equips students for educational roles in the areas of practical supervision and Advisory within the healthcare sector, staff and organisational development within healthcare organisations, associations, health insurance funds, health and social care institutions, prevention centres, independent welfare organisations and youth support services, as well as in residential homes, social counselling centres and other similar settings.
Career opportunities depend on the respective authorisation procedures of the individual federal states or district authorities.
Upon successful completion, the Master's deggree programme in Pedagogy for Healthcare Professions equips students
- to develop communication skills, such as interdisciplinary thinking and the ability to take action, as well as communication and counselling skills
- to integrate one’s own knowledge within more complex contexts, as well as to act responsibly and engage with civil society.
- to provide education to develop a stable, resilient and well-balanced personality with a strong sense of empathy for educational challenges

The entry requirement for the Master's deggree programme in Pedagogy for Healthcare Professions at HSD Hochschule Döpfer is proof of a first professional qualification on which the Master's deggree programme is based. Medical Education, e.g. a Bachelor’s degree (240 ECTS) in Medical Education, Nursing Education or a comparable qualification.
The Master’s programme can be undertaken with either a Bachelor’s degree in an educational field or a Bachelor’s degree in healthcare; however, the modules in the first two semesters differ in some respects (see study plan).
