The emergency services sector is a demanding and dynamic field of work, and the demand for highly trained skilled professionals is growing steadily. Until now, the skills required to initiate crisis management measures, make complex care decisions and reflect on these have, for the most part, only been acquired in an unstructured manner within the context of emergency services work. On the Emergency Services Studies programme at HSD Hochschule Döpfer, you will now acquire these and other skills in a systematic and scientifically sound manner.

You are professionally qualified to carry out complex emergency medical service tasks and duties independently.
The Bachelor's degree programme in Emergency Medical Sciences at HSD Hochschule Döpfer provides you with in-depth expertise in applied emergency medical sciences, covering specialistareas such as traumatology, paediatrics and invasive emergency techniques. In addition, you will acquire knowledge of the principles of emergency medical care – such as clinical reasoning, ethics and law – as well as fundamental scientific skills, such as research methods in emergency sciences, relevant to this professional field.
The programme is delivered virtually but is predominantly synchronous. Theoretical content is taught through online live sessions and supplemented by self-study materials. You will acquire practical skills through simulations in the ‘Skillslab’.
Admission with a (specialised) Abitur:
- General university entrance qualification
- Subject-specific university entrance qualification
- University of Applied Sciences entrance qualification
- Subject-specific university of applied sciences entrance qualification
and either a completed vocational qualification or a supplementary examination to become a paramedic. First-year students on thework-integrated learning programme must have a university entrance qualification and may commence their studies from the middle of the second year of their vocational training.
Admission without a (subject-specific) school-leaving certificate:
- A passed master craftsman’s examination or an equivalent qualification
, and either a completed vocational training programme or a supplementary examination to qualify as a paramedic - Completed lower secondary education or an equivalent qualification, plus completed vocational training suitable for the degree programme (in this case: vocational training or a supplementary examination to qualify as a paramedic) and at least two years’ professional experience

Location: Live online with occasional face-to-face sessions in Regensburg
Start of programme: at the start of the winter semester (1 September, part-time alongside work) and the spring semester (1 March, part-time alongside work or training)
Standard duration of study:
- Part-time (whilst working): 6 semesters
- for those undertaking vocational training: 8 semesters

Degree awarded: Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.)
Credits: 180 ECTS credits – you can transfer 60 ECTS credits towards the vocational training to become a paramedic.
Organisation: Face-to-face teaching takes place predominantly online. For modules with practical content, the practical sessions are held in our SkillsLab in Regensburg. Face-to-face teaching takes place in Regensburg approximately twice a semester, with each session lasting two days.
Tuition fees:
- Part-time (whilst working): 450 euros per month.
- Combined with vocational training: €150 per month (semesters 1–3) or €450 per month (semesters 4–8)
