Providing the best possible care for patients: the nursing degree programme equips students with professional skills and paves the way for a promising career. The Bachelor’s degree programme in nursing is the answer to increasingly complex care models and the ever-growing demands placed on the nursing profession. Our part-time nursing degree programme is based on the recommendations of the German Hospital Association (DKG), which are reflected in the programme’s curriculum.
At the start of the nursing degree programme, prospective students choose one of three specialisations, which they then study in depth over the course of their studies:
- Intensive Care and Anaesthesia Nursing
- Emergency care
- Psychiatric Nursing
The nursing degree programme is offered on a part-time basis. In addition, the nursing degree can also be completed alongside a vocational training programme. Both models are based on a blended learning approach. This enables students to balance their work and studies as effectively as possible.
Completing the Bachelor’s degree programme in Nursing, with its specialisation options at the HSD, opens up a wide range of career prospects for you, both in direct patient care and beyond.
Through your specialisation in advanced specialist nursing in your chosen field, you will be qualified for roles in
- Intensive care and anaesthesia nursing: surgical centres, recovery rooms, intensive care units and much more.
- Emergency care: central A&E departments, accident and emergency units, pre-hospital emergency care and much more
- Psychiatric care: acute psychiatric wards, forensic psychiatry, community psychiatric services and much more.
In addition, you can take on leadership and management roles. For example, in

- Project and quality management in the healthcare sector

With a bachelor’s degree, you will also have access to a wide range of (academic) further qualifications, as well as opportunities to work in research or in interdisciplinary fields. These may include, amongst others:

Specialise and become an expert in ‘your’ area of nursing! On the Bachelor’s degree programme in nursing at HSD Hochschule Döpfer, you can choose from the specialisations listed below and tailor your studies and training precisely to the area in which you wish to develop.
The specialisation in Intensive Care and Anaesthesia Nursing qualifies you to provide the demanding care required by critically ill patients in intensive care units and operating theatres. Alongside in-depth knowledge of monitoring, ventilation and pain management, the programme also covers ethical issues, interprofessional collaboration and supporting relatives. Technical expertise, the ability to react quickly and emotional resilience are central to this specialised area of nursing practice.
Through the Emergency Care specialisation, we prepare students to provide professional care to patients in acute, life-threatening situations. You will acquire in-depth knowledge of initial assessment, emergency procedures, communication in exceptional situations and interdisciplinary collaboration. The focus is on rapid decision-making, technical expertise and psychosocial support in the A&E department or within the emergency medical services. Upon graduation, you will be equipped to act calmly and purposefully under high pressure.
In the Psychiatric Nursing specialisation, we provide you with in-depth knowledge of working with people with mental health conditions. You will learn to develop individual care and treatment plans based on empathy, relationship-building and resource-oriented support. The programme also covers crisis intervention, therapeutic communication and legal principles. The aim is to equip you with the skills to support people in exceptional mental health situations in a professionally competent, respectful and stabilising manner.
The Bachelor’s degree programme in Nursing at the HSD opens up a wide range of career opportunities in a challenging and future-proof professional field. You can choose your specialisation entirely according to your career aspirations or professional background – in intensive care and anaesthesia nursing, emergency nursing, psychiatric nursing or in the field of management and leadership (in planning). Through the Y-model, you combine sound knowledge of nursing science with practical expertise in your specialist area.
The programme equips you with the skills needed to tackle complex nursing challenges and specifically prepares you for managerial roles, interdisciplinary collaboration or further study. The modular programme is based on a blended learning approach. We support students online via an e-campus system and assist them in working through the course content independently.
Practical placements in a variety of settings within your chosen specialisation are also a key component of the programme.

Admission with a (specialised) Abitur:
- General university entrance qualification
- Subject-specific university entrance qualification
- University of Applied Sciences Qualification
- Subject-specific university of applied sciences qualification
and concurrent or previously completed vocational training in generalist care, healthcare and nursing, paediatric nursing, geriatric care or a comparable 3-year nursing vocational training programme in the healthcare sector.
Admission without a (subject-specific) school-leaving certificate:
- A passed master craftsman’s examination or an equivalent qualification, and a completed vocational training programme in generalist nursing, health and nursing care, paediatric nursing, geriatric care
- Completion of lower secondary education (Sekundarstufe I) or an equivalent qualification, plus a completed vocational training programme suitable for the degree programme (in this case: generalist nursing, health and nursing care, paediatric nursing, geriatric care), and at least two years’ professional experience

Standard duration of study: 5 semesters whilst working | 7 semesters whilst undergoing vocational training (It is possible to complete the programme in a shorter time – please get in touch with us!)
Degree awarded: Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.)
Credits: 180 ECTS credits – 60 ECTS credits are transferred towards nursing vocational training in the healthcare sector (e.g. generalist nursing, healthcare and nursing, therapeutic nursing or comparable 3-year vocational training).
Organisation: Face-to-face teaching takes place predominantly online. For modules with practical content, the practical sessions are held in our SkillsLab in Regensburg. Face-to-face teaching takes place in Regensburg approximately twice a semester, with each session lasting two days.
Tuition fees:
- Part-time: 490 euros per month.
- During vocational training: €295 per month (semesters 1–4) or €450 per month (semesters 5–7).
