The Medical Education programme at HSD Hochschule Döpfer enables students from a wide range of healthcare professions to enter the teaching profession. During your Medical Education studies, you will prepare for specific teaching and learning situations. You will acquire the necessary skills to pass on your specialist knowledge to future skilled professionals in the healthcare sector in a scientifically sound and pedagogically sound manner. In doing so, you will lay the foundations for a career in adult education, at vocational colleges or University of Applied Sciences.
Upon completing the Bachelor's degree programme in Medical Pedagogy at HSD Hochschule Döpfer, you will provide education to aspiring skilled professionals in the healthcare sector, imparting specialist knowledge and inspiring them about their future field of work. You will also keep your finger on the pulse and remain fully up to date with the latest developments in medicine, education and social care.
Upon successfully completing the Bachelor’s degree programme in Medical Education, you will have a range of career options. For example, you could work as a teacher in your specialist field at vocational colleges or specialist academies, be involved in initial and continuingtraining within the healthcare sector, or contribute to the development of curricula and educational concepts, take on administrative roles, and much more.
During the Bachelor’s degree programme in Medical Education, you will learn about various educational concepts and methods that are essential for the education of healthcare professionals. These include, for example, teaching and learning theories, lesson planning and design, and assessment methods.
You will engage in critical discussion of current social issues and developments within the relevant academic disciplines, such as psychology, sociology, ethics and public health.
The elective modules in Nursing, Therapy, Emergency Services, OTA/ATA and Medical Technology professions offer subject-specific and profession-related reflection and in-depth study.
Through supervised teaching projects, you will gain practical teaching experience and be encouraged to integrate theory and practice.

Admission with a (specialised) Abitur:
- General university entrance qualification
- Subject-specific university entrance qualification
- University of Applied Sciences entrance qualification
- Subject-specific university of applied sciences entrance qualification
and a completed vocational qualification in a regulated healthcare profession
Admission without a (subject-specific) Abitur:
- A passed master craftsman’s examination or an equivalent qualification, and a completed vocational training programme in a regulated healthcare profession
- Completion of lower secondary education or an equivalent qualification, plus completed vocational training in a regulated healthcare profession and at least two years’ professional experience
Depending on your prior qualifications, a placement/advisory interview may be required to transfer your credits.

Organisation: Face-to-face teaching generally takes place over six weekends per semester.
Tuition fees:
€450.00 per month. This includes all fees associated with the programme.
For the preparatory semester, which medical assistants are required to complete, fees of €240.00 per month apply.
