The issues of health and nutrition are becoming increasingly important across society as a whole. We now know that many physical illnesses, particularly the so-called lifestyle-related diseases (e.g. obesity, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, etc.), are partly caused by diet and that their progression can be influenced.
However, despite a wealth of dietary recommendations, there is often a lack of strategies for the long-term adoption of healthy eating habits.
Nutritional psychology offers concrete solutions in this area:
- It deals with the complex field of psychological factors that influence and govern us and our eating behaviour.
- It helps us to develop interventions which, through person-centred advisory, can promote healthy and functional eating habits in the long term.
